The Eskdale Reserve is a haven for dogs and walkers. It is a lovely short walk on a well maintained track through the bush with native and exotic trees and shrubs. It’s a great choice for hot days as the trees provide some good shade. Dogs need to be on a leash.
Please note that as this is part of a reserve with Kauri trees – a native species under threat from Kauri Dieback disease, at times some parts of the route may be temporarily closed. Please check the kauri trail map to verify the status of the trail prior to arrival at the trailhead.
Parking: You can access the Eskdale Reserve from multiple points. There are parking spots along Eskdale road – check the road markings.

Best Paired with:
Addiction Viva La Venison for dogs. Viva La Venison features free-range New Zealand Venison as a novel premium protein source. Robust and earthy in flavour, Venison is low in cholesterol and high in protein, making this one of the healthiest protein sources for your dog’s dietary needs.
Route Type:
Loop track.
Difficulty level for humans accompanying dog:

REVIEWS
“Our dog Lily loved this walk. We did it during the summer when it was quite hot but the shade of the trees kept us all cool. If it’s been raining it can be a bit muddy, but that just adds to the fun.”
